Boiler Replacement Grants: Many Options Are Available

By Dave Stuart

grantsThere are many expenses that pop up for homeowners and tenants, but because of recent government programs in the United Kingdom, boiler replacement expenses might not be one of them anymore.

Thanks to the ECO Scheme, there are many British tenants and homeowners who would qualify for the many boiler replacement grants that are being made available to the public. This is a program that is making it easier than ever for many to get their older inefficient boilers replaced with a new efficient one. Read more to learn about these options.

What Is ECO Scheme?

This is a program funded by the UK government with a specific focus on boiler replacement grants and subsidies. For many individuals this will result in the entire cost of a boiler replacement being covered, making it free for the property owner or private renter who qualify. Individuals don’t automatically qualify. They do have to apply for the grants offered by this program, and then fill out the application in full.

There are plenty of resources online to help out with this and guide interested individuals to where they need to be to find out if they might qualify and get the ball rolling on applying for this aid.

Who Qualifies?

There is no guarantee for an entire group of people to qualify for boiler replacement grants, but there are definitely eligibility factors that matter. Right off the bat, the individual must own the property or be renting private property and have the owner’s explicit permission to have work done on the property. These are the only properties that are going to qualify for these grants.

In addition to this, income matters a lot. Generally speaking the lower the income, the larger the chance that a person’s application will be accepted. However, they also must qualify for at least of one of the following:

– The Pension Credit
– A Child Tax Credit combined with an appropriately low annual income
– The Working Tax Credit, combined with an appropriately low annual income
– Some form of income support
– Job seeker’s allowance (income based)
– An employment and support allowance (income related)
– Universal credit, with appropriately low income from last 12 calendar months

Only one of those other conditions needs to be met to qualify, but having one of those doesn’t necessarily guarantee it. That just opens the way for grant applications.

Boiler On Finance Options

There will be individuals who may not qualify for boiler replacement grants or subsidies but still find themselves in a position where an old and inefficient boiler isn’t getting the job done like it used to. In those situations where the normal methods for financial assistance for boiler replacement aren’t an option there are programs or even sometimes local companies willing to offer financing plans to make it easier for these replacement jobs to take place.

The main thing to take away is that there are options. There are government grants, many different types of subsidies, and even financing. This gives plenty of options for individuals needing that new boiler in their home or residence.
